Holiday sale days have become a week-long affair! It starts with Black Friday, then Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday — and now we also have Travel Tuesday.

The lesser-known sale holiday features special savings on flights, hotels, cruises and other travel accommodations on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year it falls on Dec. 3.

The travel site Hopper has been credited by multiple outlets for promoting the concept.

Searches for "Travel Tuesday" grew by more than 500% from 2021 to 2023, according to a recent report by consulting firm McKinsey & Company.

The concept of Travel Tuesday is largely concentrated in the United States and Canada, according to the report, but there has been "elevated volume" in Australia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Spain, McKinsey & Company said.

Most people who look for Travel Tuesday deals are searching for resort destinations, the report said.

McKinsey & Company said that data from the travel marketing platform Sojern shows a large spike in Travel Tuesday bookings in 2023, though the concept has been around since as early as 2018 according to other reports.
