David Conley, the man accused of killing six children and two adults in their Houston home, has spoken out from his jail cell.

Conley would not disclose details from the night of the murders but did try to explain his actions, saying, "They were growing up to be monsters. I'm not saying I killed them because of that. I'm not even saying I killed them. They were growing up to be monsters."

Conley also spoke about his 13-year-old son, Nathaniel: "I love Nate. I love Nate to death. ... Nate didn't give me any respect because of what his mother was doing towards me."

Conley is being held in a Harris County jail without bond on capital murder charges. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 15.
