Amazon has hit another milestone.
For the first time, the online retailer ranked as being worth more than software company Microsoft when Amazon's market value went above $685 billion on Feb. 6. That put the e-commerce giant just behind Apple and Google. The tech giants are competing to hit a market cap of $1 trillion, which no U.S. company has done before.
In January, Amazon founder Jeff Bezossurpassed Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates as the wealthiest person on Earth.
