The U.K. and the European Union weren't able to reach an agreement on a highly anticipated Brexit deal.

After talking over lunch Monday, British Prime Minister Theresa May and EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker admitted they had some differences on a "couple of issues."

But both said they are confident an agreement is in reach.

In order for negotiations to move forward, the two sides must agree on three key issues — the "divorce" bill, the rights of EU citizens in the post-Brexit U.K. and what to do about the border with Northern Ireland.
