A 16-year-old boy is lucky is to be alive after stowing away on flight from California to Hawaii by hiding in a plane's wheel well. 

The boy is miraculously unharmed after the nearly six-hour trip, despite a lack of oxygen and temperatures as low as 80 degrees below zero at the airliner's highest altitude. (Via HLN

The boy reportedly ran away from home after an argument with his family. Security footage from the San Jose airport shows the boy then jumped a fence and climbed up the landing gear of a Hawaiian Airlines plane to get into the wheel well. He was brought in for questioning by FBI after he hopped out of the plane and was discovered wandering on the tarmac of the Maui airport more than 5 hours after the flight had landed. An spokesperson for the FBI says the boy was "exceptionally lucky to have survived" given that the extreme conditions had knocked him unconscious for most of trip. 

In a statement, the spokesperson said: He "doesn't even remember the flight ... It's amazing he survived that." (Via The Maui News)

The boy is now in the care of child protection services. The FBI says he will not be charged with a crime.
