After an Equifax data breach last year that exposed 145 million Americans' information, many people still haven't checked their credit report. Fifty percent of U.S. adults surveyed haven't checked their credit since the breach, according to creditcards.com.
The news comes after reports earlier this month that the Equifax security breachwas worse than the credit reporting company originally said it was.
In a 2016 survey by CreditRepair.com, 27 percent of respondents said they check their credit less than once a year; 21 percent said they check it every month; and 9 percent said they check it weekly.
So how do you check your credit? You can get a free report once a year online from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
