“Must be a lucky man.” That’s what Steve Tran from northern California said about the previously unnamed second winner of $648 million dollar Mega Millions jackpot.
Well, it turns out the delivery driver was that lucky man. The winning ticket was just one of many tickets Tran bought while on route. (Via CNN)
He bought the ticket at Jenny’s Gift Shop in San Jose then put it in a pile with his other tickets and forgot about it. After coming back from vacation two weeks later, Tran woke up in the middle of the night with a hunch. (Via Los Angeles Times)
That’s when he finally realized he was a winner. He then immediately called his job and quit. As for the owner of the store where he bought the ticket…
“I wished him the best. I did. I wished him the best and he got his best. … Store owner Thuy Nguyen won $1 million.” (Via ABC)
Tran will spit the second largest jackpot in U.S. history with Ira Curry, a grandmother from Georgia. (Via New York Times)
Curry chose the cash option, if Tran does the same they will receive $120 million each.
