A suspected workplace shooting at a FedEx facility in Georgia early Tuesday left at least six people injured.
Police told reporters the only suspect in the shooting has died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They received a call about a shooting at Kennesaw, Georgia's FedEx facility around 5:45 am. (Via CNN)
At this point, authorities haven't given any further information about the suspect.
But a family member of the facility's manager told a reporter for WXIA, the shooter had shotguns and pistols with him, and he was reportedly "a baggage handler and not disgruntled." (Via Twitter / @jleslie11alive)
Here's how one witness described what happened: "What did you hear from your boss today? He called me about 6:00 this morning and said that someone was, you know, there was a guy inside. He ran through security. He shot a security guard."
According to ABC, FBI bomb technicians and other federal authorities were called to the scene along with hundreds of police officers. A reporter for WGCL describes the scene this way.
"I'd say probably hundreds of officers coming and going, racing around. We've seen blue lights, heard sirens all morning long. I would say it's bordering on chaos around here trying to size up the situation."
According to WSB-TV, police believe the suspect was the only shooter. They've now expanded their search to look for "secondary devices."
WXIA reports employees coming in for work are being turned away and authorities are holding those already at work in a warehouse on the property.
FedEx released a statement saying it was aware of the situation and cooperating with authorities. The conditions of those injured reportedly range from minor to critical condition.
