People has the statement from the actor's rep, who calls this a "great improvement" and says, "His personality is certainly starting to come back as well."
That rep also said Morgan's assistant's condition has been upgraded to fair. Morgan broke his ribs, nose and leg in the crash and has undergone surgery.

Morgan has been hospitalized since June 6, when a Wal-Mart truck driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel and hit a vehicle carrying the former "30 Rock" star and his entourage.
Tragically, Morgan's longtime friend Jimmy McNair, a comedian better known as Jimmy Mack, was killed. A funeral for him was held Thursday. (Via WNBC)

As CNN reports, driver Kevin Roper is pleading not guilty.
"Kevin Roper is being charged with one count of vehicular homicide. He's additionally being charged with assault by auto. ... He's now out after posting $50,000 bond."
Morgan is expected to remain in the hospital for several weeks.
