Turkey announced Thursday it's imposing retaliatory tariffs worth $267 million on U.S. goods.

The tariffs are in response to the Trump administration imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum in March.

According to CNN, Turkey's targeting U.S. imports such as coal, paper, walnuts, tobacco, rice, whiskey and cars.

Turkey's economy minister said the country tried to negotiate with the U.S. but that talks failed.

The retaliatory tariffs come on the heels of the European Union's announcement Wednesday that it will slap billions of dollars in tariffs on U.S. goods beginning Friday.
