Russia's defense ministry said one of its cargo planes crashed Tuesday in Syria, killing all 32 people on board.

The plane was reportedly about to land at an airbase in the western Syrian province of Latakia when it crashed.

Based off preliminary data, officials believe a technical malfunction might have caused the crash. The Russian defense ministry is investigating.
