This week was all about women. That’s right, women are taking over roles and positions that have typically been occupied by men in both film and sports. Let's introduce you to the women who are kicking some serious butt.

Move over, Spider-Man. Sony is reportedly looking to create a spinoff from its "Amazing Spider-Man" series, and the lead would be a superheroine.

Deadline first reported Sony was looking to center the movie around a character from the Spider-Man universe and that the motion picture company had already hired a writer for the script.

Sony is keeping tight-lipped about which character it's basing the movie around, but we did some digging and came up with a few possibilities.

There's Spider-Woman, mercenary Silver Sable and reformed burglar Black Cat.

Time pointed out that two days before Sony's plan for a new movie was announced, Marvel's president cited timing as the reason the company hadn't yet produced a film about a superheroine.

A writer for Metro seems pretty psyched for this new movie — noting it isn't just women who will want to watch this movie: "Everyone likes to see a strong character fighting the good fight."

We have to agree — superhero movies are generally pretty awesome. We know where we'll be with our bowls of popcorn when the movie comes out in theaters.

Next, meet the first woman ever to become a full-time NBA assistant coach.

Tuesday, the San Antonio Spurs revealed Becky Hammon had been hired as an assistant coach. Head coach Gregg Popovich was quoted as saying, "I'm confident her basketball IQ, work ethic and interpersonal skills will be a great benefit to the Spurs."

Hammon is no stranger to the hardwood.

She's been a member of the WNBA team the San Antonio Stars since 2011.

She's also the seventh player in the WNBA to score 5,000 points in her career, and back in 2011, she was honored as one of the league's top 15 players of all time.

Yeah, with all those career highs, Hammon seems like just the woman to help lead the Spurs to another championship.

And finally, who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! How about an all-women version of the trio of scientists who hunts ghosts?

Yep, the roles made famous by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis will be reimagined as women in a reboot of the 1984 film.

Of course, many outlets are already tossing out ideas for which actresses should play the iconic parts.

A writer for Entertainment Weekly is hoping for the return of the cast of "Bridesmaids," starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy.

And fans have already created a Facebook page petitioning for a remake starring "SNL" funny ladies Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Rachel Dratch.

Any combination of those women would make for a hilarious movie, and The Hollywood Reporter says the film might already have a director. According to the outlet, Paul Feig, who directed both "The Heat" and "Bridesmaids," is in talks with Sony.

So, what are women going to dominate next? I'm thinking we start simple, ladies: How about the world? Because, yeah, that sounds so simple.
