An international panel created after two Boeing 737 MAX crashes could propose changes to the way the Federal Aviation Administration certifies planes.

A source told CNN the Joint Authorities Technical Review is nearly done with its work and could issue its report as soon as next week. The source also said the panel will offer a series of recommendations to the agency, including ways "to address deficiencies."

The Joint Authorities Technical Review is made up of U.S. officials as well as officials from nine international aviation authorities. The FAA established the panel back in April to "conduct a comprehensive review of the certification of the automated flight control system on the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft."

Boeing's 737 Max was grounded worldwide shortly after the deadly Ethiopian Airlines plane crash back in March. It was the second fatal crash involving that model in less than five months.
