The Department of Housing and Urban Development is looking into what role Secretary Ben Carson's family has been playing in its operations — and it's doing so at the request of Ben Carson.
Carson called for the review after The Washington Post reported he allowed his son to help organize a "listening tour" last summer for the department, despite its lawyers warning that the move may be in violation of federal ethics rules.
The Post says Carson's son and daughter-in-law invited people they potentially had business dealings with, according to internal documents.
A spokesperson for the department's inspector general referred to the review as "an open matter" and said "it is our policy not to comment any further during its pendency."
