The company that invented bump stocks is no longer taking orders for them. Slide Fire Solutions made the announcement Tuesday and said it was shutting down its website.

Bump stocks have been a controversial subject since the firearm accessory was used in the Las Vegas mass shooting in October. It was the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history and claimed 58 lives.

Bump stocks let semi-automatic rifles fire like automatic ones. They're technically legal, but some states have banned them.

Slide Fire was sued by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence after the Las Vegas shooting for alleged negligence in its marketing of the product.

The founder of Slide Fire hasn't publicly commented following the announcement but told Bloomberg after the Las Vegas shooting, "I built something, and a madman is taking it all away."
