A 20-year-old Florida woman involved in a car crash that claimed the lives of two other women might have been under the influence when the crash happened. Now, almost a week later, the case is gaining national attention.
It all has to do with a shocking post driver Kaila Mendoza left on her Twitter account over the weekend. (Via ABC)
Late Saturday night, the self-described "pothead princess" tweeted "2 drunk 2 care" only about two hours before allegedly being involved in the crash. (Via Twitter / @highimkaila)
The two victims have been identified as Marisa Catronio and Kaitlyn Ferrante. They were struck head-on when they were on their way home early Sunday morning. (Via WTVJ)
WZTV reports one victim's father got worried after his daughter missed curfew. He found his daughter's car on the expressway after tracing it with a GPS device.
Now friends of the two victims have gathered to remember them. On Thursday, Ferrante's family held a memorial. Both of her parents attended. Just one day earlier, family and friends attended a wake for Catronio. (Via WPLG)
But the woman believed to be the reason behind the crash survived. Other tweets on her feed describe illegal drug and alcohol use. (Via WKRN)
One recent post made a couple days before the crash said, "I break all my bongs cuz I have butter fingers." Mendoza has also posted pictures of marijuana online and talked about her own underage drinking. (Via Twitter / @highimkaila)
So far authorities haven't pressed charges because they're still waiting for toxicology results to confirm if Mendoza was actually drunk when the crash happened.
