"The Day Ahead" examines the increase in the number of women making the brave decision to endure double mastectomy surgery — and one actress is being credited for starting the trend. The "Angelina Jolie effect" started in 2013 after she shared her own story in the New York Times detailing her experience with breast cancer in her family and her preventive decision to have both breasts removed.
