The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is advising caution after a salmonella outbreak in multiple states.
According to the CDC, the "likely source" is ground beef, but no link to a specific supplier has been found.
As of Friday, the CDC said 10 cases had been reported across six states. One person in California died from the illness.
The CDC says consumers should be careful when handling raw or undercooked ground beef. Salmonella is estimated to cause 1.2 million illnesses, 23,000 hospitalizations and 450 deaths a year in the U.S.
