Despite the objections of protesters, Republican Sen. Susan Collins says she will vote yes to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
"My fervent hope is that Brett Kavanaugh will work to lessen the divisions in the Supreme Court," she said.
Before announcing her decision, Collins spoke about the allegations against Kavanaugh. She said although she believes Christine Blasey Ford was sexually assaulted, her allegations against Kavanaugh "failed to meet the more likely than not standard."
"I do not believe these charges can fairly prevent Judge Kavanaugh from serving on the court," she said.
Soon after Collins finished speaking, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin announced he too will vote to confirm Kavanaugh. In a statement, the West Virginia senator said he believes Kavanaugh will "rule in a manner that is consistent with our Constitution."
Earlier on Friday, Sen. Jeff Flake told MSNBC that he will also vote yes on Kavanaugh "unless something big were to change."
So as of now, it appears there are enough senators who will approve Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination. The final vote is expected to happen on Saturday.
