Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown has won re-election, defeating Republican challenger Rep. Jim Renacci.
Brown had held a commanding lead in the polls heading into the election, despite the fact his state went for President Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.
Retaining Brown's seat was important for Democrats to have a shot at winning a majority in the Senate, something pollsters have projected is unlikely to happen.
This will be Brown's third term in the U.S. Senate.
