The U.K. House of Lords voted Friday to effectively take the possibility of a no-deal Brexit off the table.

The members approved EU withdrawal bill No. 6, which gives Prime Minister Boris Johnson until Oct. 19 to strike an exit deal with the European Union and get approval from Parliament. If he can't do that, he'll be forced to ask the EU for another withdrawal extension.

The bill will now be sent for royal approval.

After passing the withdrawal legislation Wednesday, the House of Commons issued another setback for Johnson and rejected his call for a snap election. He'd proposed holding an early election on Oct. 15, but that would have needed two-thirds approval in the House of Commons. Members of Parliament will have another chance to vote on an early election next week.
