At least three people are dead after gunmen took 170 people hostage in a hotel in Mali's capital.

According to the Radisson Blu Hotel's owners, two armed men locked 140 guests and 30 employees inside the building Friday morning.

One witness told CNN the gunmen arrived in a diplomatic vehicle and opened fire as they entered the hotel for "several long minutes."

Several reports claim at least 20 hostages were released at a later time, but other details were still scarce as of early Friday morning. (Video via BBC

In August, there was a different hostage situation in Mali, where around 10 gunmen held 10 people hostage in a hotel.
