Another U.S. embassy employee in Havana, Cuba, has suffered health effects that some say are consistent with sonic or acoustic attacks, according to the U.S. State Department.

State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert says this is the 25th American affected by the same mysterious illness in Cuba, and this is the first confirmed case since August.

Previously, other U.S. government employees who all claim they had similar "acoustic experiences" later reported having vertigo, sharp ear pain and other health-related symptoms.

The State Department says an "inter agency" investigation is underway to find out "what is causing it and who is responsible."
