Tesla just had its most profitable quarter ever. The company posted its third quarter earnings Wednesday and revealed a net profit of $312 million.
Not only is that the largest profitable quarter Tesla has ever had, its only the third time in the company's existence its actually posted a profit.
Tesla went public in 2010. It's never had a profitable year, and it's lost more than $6 billion.
It likely owes its good fortune this quarter to the fact it doubled its production from the one before, breaking its previous production records.
