A delivery to the wrong address has given a Texas trio a new address: their local county jail.
According to local outlets, a FedEx package intended for one Houston-area house got delivered to the wrong one last week.
The recipient at the wrong address opened the package, and it contained cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine.
Not so surprisingly, that person tipped off police, who then delivered the package to the correct address and made...arrests.
KPRC reports this couple is charged with possession with intent to deliver, and...
"Deputies also arrested Stephanie Adams at Taylor and Peck's home. Investigators say she admitted to using meth when they arrived, while her 5-year-old was sleeping in another room."
Authorities say they found about $100,000 worth of drugs in the home, and KHOU has what may be the best summary of what was found.
"It was a hodgepodge of cocaine, heroin, LSD, steroids, assorted prescription drugs and a whole bunch of guns."
A whole bunch of guns.
And while, yes, this is a crazy local story — it comes at a not-so-great time for FedEx on a larger scale.
In July the shipping giantwas indicted by the federal government for allegedly shipping prescription pills and other controlled substances for online, illegal "pharmacies." FedEx pled not guilty, but stands to lose hundreds of millions of dollars if convicted.
Last year UPS settled a similar case with the Department of Justice, agreeing to pay up to $40 million.
The 5-year-old child found at that Texas home is now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
