Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is reportedly pleading with the Justice Department not to fire him days before his retirement date on Sunday.
If McCabe is fired, he could lose his pension after decades at the FBI.
He arrived at the Justice Department and met with senior officials to plead his case over a three-hour period. He did not meet with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who will make the ultimate decision on his employment.
McCabe, who has been a frequent target of President Donald Trump's criticism, stepped down from his position as FBI deputy director in January but has still been on the payroll.
Sessions is expected to make a decision by Friday.
