Some Georgia Precincts Extended Voting Hours After Long Lines

Parts of Georgia also faced a voting machine shortage.

Multiple voting precincts in Georgia were ordered to extend their hours after technical issues led to confusion and long lines.

Several precincts outside of Atlanta were affected. There was also a shortage of voting machines in the city. Voters at some precincts either had to switch to paper ballots or wait, sometimes for hours.

The state saw a tight governor race between Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp and Democrat Stacey Abrams. Kemp, who was also overseeing the election, previously received complaints about the state's aging machines, which also don't produce verifiable paper records.

Kemp was among those who faced issues voting Tuesday, with his card initially labeled invalid.

Other states including Texas, North Carolina and Alabama also had to extend their voting hours after complications.
