The California Democratic Party voted to endorse Kevin de León for Senate over incumbent Dianne Feinstein.
Feinstein has held one of California's Senate seats since she joined Congress in 1992. But on Saturday, 65 percent of the party voted to endorse de León. Only 7 percent voted to endorse Feinstein and another 28 percent voted "no endorsement."
CNN reports de León is considered the more liberal of the two candidates, and he was recently the temporary president of the California State Senate.
In a previous vote in February, neither candidate had secured enough votes for the party's endorsement.
