Witnesses told KHOU people traveled from all over the U.S. to attend the celebration for the Indian religion Jainism, one of the four major religions in India.

Although little damage is visible from the outside, officials are describing the interior of the structure as "pancaked." About six men reportedly held up the collapsed floor so rescue workers could pull people out from underneath the building. (Via KPRC)

An official cause has not been determined but witnesses are speculating the sheer number of people caused the collapse.
