"What will it mean for you to become the oldest woman to finish a marathon?" asked a KGTV reporter.

"I think that will be fine. I don't think it will change my life at all. I just think it will be a nice thing to say," Thompson said.

Last year, she finished in 7 hours, 7 minutes and 42 seconds, beating the previous record for a woman 90 or older by more than an hour and a half.

Thompson is a two-time cancer survivor and recently recovered from a staph infection in her legs. She says she's running the marathon, which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, because she's lost several members of her family to cancer.

"I'm so thankful that I can do a little bit to help. It means a lot that all those people are out here trying to get money for research," Thompson said.

The oldest man to complete a marathon is Fauja Singh. He finished the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 2011 at 100 years old.
