A former Senate Intelligence Committee aide pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI on Monday.

James Wolfe was the director of security for the committee. He was responsible for ensuring classified national security information sent to the committee was properly handled.

He was interviewed by the FBI as part of an investigation into how a reporter found out that Russians tried to recruit former Trump adviser Carter Page.

In his guilty plea, he admitted to providing unclassified information to reporters and lying to the FBI about it.

He faces up to five years in prison and financial penalties. His sentencing is set for Dec. 20.
