The House voted Monday to pass a bill aimed at protecting young athletes from sexual abuse.
The Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act passed 406-3.
It would require the U.S. Olympic Committee to report any sexual abuse claims made by a minor or amateur athlete within 24 hours.
It follows the conviction of former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar, who was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison last week. More than 150 women and girls came forward and said Nassar had sexually abused them.
The bill would also prohibit minors from being alone with an adult other than their parent or guardian.
