Former Judge Roy Moore has beaten Sen. Luther Strange to secure the GOP nomination for Alabama's special election.

Alabama will vote to replace its former senator Jeff Sessions, who left his seat to become attorney general. Strange was picked to replace Sessions before the election. He'll have to step down after the election.

Strange was backed by GOP establishment figures, including President Donald Trump himself.

But Moore's campaign attracted support from a number of right-wing leaders, including former Trump aide Steve Bannon.

Moore now has to face former U.S. Attorney Doug Jones in the general election Dec. 12.
