Well, he was set to make his TV comeback with a new Travel Channel show, "Man Finds Food," this week. But that's no longer happening. (Via Travel Channel / "Man v. Food")
Travel Channel has indefinitely postponed the show's premiere — and Variety says the decision seemingly has to do with Richman's recent social media activity.
"It started when Richman ... showing off his 70-pound weight loss, Instagrammed a photo showing off his dramatic loss in weight using the hashtag '#thinspiration.'" (Via ABC)
That word is most often associated with pro-eating disorder Internet communities, which some of Richman's followers pointed out to him. (Via Urban Dictionary)
And the 40-year-old host fired back with some intense responses. HLN's Jane Velez-Mitchell says he went "overboard."
"'Grab a razor blade and draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you. Eat a bag of sh** dummy. The only f*** up it seems was your dad's choice to go without a condom.' Whoa." (Via HLN)
Richman has apologized for the rant twice — once on Twitter, a post he's since deleted.
And he released a statement obtained by TMZ: "I've long struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight. I'm incredibly sorry to everyone I've hurt.”
Richman called his remarks "inexcusable" and wiped his Instagram of all posts. (Via Instagram / @adamrichman)
And Travel Channel has wiped all mentions of "Man Finds Food" from its website.
But Richman did take to the show's Facebook page Wednesday morning, asking fans to keep the faith that the show will air.
In the meantime, NBC is moving forward with Richman's other new show, "Food Fighters." The competition series is set to premiere July 22.
