South Korea has chosen a new president.

Moon Jae-in, the left-wing leader of South Korea's Democratic Party, won the vote by a landslide to become the country's next leader.

Moon supports working to strengthen ties with North Korea and is lukewarm about the presence of a U.S. missile defense system in South Korea. That could put him on a collision course with U.S. President Donald Trump's priorities.

Moon was elected after the country's previous leader, Park Geun-hye, was ousted in a corruption scandal.
