It’s that time of year again when Forbes reveals its list of the 100 most powerful women in the world. And that list was exclusively revealed on "CBS This Morning."
"Third on the list is Melinda Gates of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Federal Chair Janet Yellen is two, and the most powerful woman for the fourth consecutive year is the chancellor of Germany — that would be Angela Merkel."
Merkel is Germany's first female chancellor and is also one of the brains behind the European Union. But she's not just a politician. Biography.com says Merkel also has a degree in physics.
So who else made the list?
Not surprisingly, Hillary Clinton. This year she came in at No. 6, just one spot lower than her ranking on Forbes' 2013 list. (Via Flickr / Marc Nozell)
The roster also included tech giants such as Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer of Facebook, who ranked at No. 9. The new CEO of YouTube, Susan Wojcicki, made the list as well. (Via Flickr / JD Lasica, Flickr /TechCrunch)
And Forbes honored women from all over the globe this year.
The publication called attention to the fact that although 58 of the honorees are American, 23 of the women are Asian or Southeast Asian citizens. Five of the women come from either Latin America or the Middle East, and four are from Africa. (Via Maps of World)
Several women who either own or founded their own companies made the list, including fashion powerhouses Tory Burch and Diane von Furstenberg. And such a list wouldn't be complete without self-starter Oprah Winfrey. (Via Forbes)
A few well-known celebrities such as Beyonce and Angelina Jolie were also included. This is the 10th anniversary of Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list.
