Five people died Sunday in a church shooting in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan.
Russia's interior ministry said five others were injured in the attack by a gunman who "opened fire on people celebrating" the start of Russian Orthodox Lent.
Police reportedly killed the shooter. Two officers are said to be among the injured. The Interfax News Agency says the shooter was a local man in his 20s.
