On Wednesday, President Donald Trump got a firsthand look at the damage caused by Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas.

He met with residents while touring neighborhoods in both states and handed out meals at a church.

Earlier, during a briefing about the storm, Trump praised the federal government's ongoing response and recovery efforts.

"We've gone through very dangerous work, and [it's] still dangerous, but some of the hard work is taking place right now," Trump said.

FEMA administrator Brock Long also warned about the dangers of rising waters.

"The rivers are still cresting, and so we still have a lot of work to do when it comes to the life safety and life sustainment mission," he said.

Officials in Conway, South Carolina, say they're worried about more flooding during the next few days and that water in some areas may not reach its highest level until next week.
