The gunman responsible for Friday's shooting spree that left seven people dead near UC Santa Barbara's campus has been identified by his family as Elliot Rodger.

ABC cites an attorney representing Rodger's family. According to that attorney, Rodger was a student at UC Santa Barbara being treated by multiple therapists.

Elliot is the son of Peter Rodger — an assistant director of The Hunger Games franchise.

His stepmother is actress Soumaya Akaaboune, one of the stars of the French version of the Real Housewives. (Via NTT)

A Facebook page under Rodger’s name contained several photos of him and his family, including his filmmaker father.

…. which as The Santa Barbara Independent reported matched the car seen in YouTube videos posted by Rodger.

Police said Saturday they were reviewing at least one of those videos posted the day of the shooting. In the video, Rodger expresses his frustration with women and vows retribution.

He'd posted other videos online expressing his loneliness and social anxiety.

In what appears to be Roger's Google Plus profile, he describes himself as a "sophisticated, polite gentlemen" but also writes "I have tried very hard to fit in with the social scene there, but I have ultimately been unable to do so. There are too many obnoxious people."

Seven were injured in Friday's shooting and treated at a local hospital. According to police, one underwent surgery for life-threatening injuries.
