Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told reporters Friday the department was preparing more sanctions against Russia and was working with the FBI on alleged election meddling.
"We are working on Russia sanctions. I can assure you that is in the process," Mnuchin said. "I will be back here within the next several weeks to talk about that."
Congress overwhelmingly approved a sanctions bill last year, and though President Donald Trump called it "seriously flawed," he signed it in August.
Mnuchin also seemed to reference special counsel Robert Mueller's indictment of 16 Russian citizens and organizations accused of waging "information warfare" on the U.S. going back to as early as 2014.
