When 18-year-old Christian Trouesdale helped a 96-year-old man home from an Aldi store in the U.K., he had no idea this simple deed would gain so much attention.

The sweet moment was captured by a woman named Samantha-Jayne Brady posted the photo to Facebook and described the kind gesture: "He wasn't very agile, nor fast but Christian walked with him ever so patiently and slowly, chatted along with him and carried his bag for him."

And the news took off. The post was liked more than 275,000 times and had more than 74,000 shares.

Trouesdale is a part-time store assistant at Aldi. He told local newspaper The Bolton News he's normally very shy and doesn't know what to do with all of the attention he is getting.

"The reaction has been completely crazy, my facebook is just overflowing with messages. ... It is very strange because this is just something I would normally do."

The deed not only went viral in the U.K.

But it also also touched the hearts of people across the globe, with many outlets noting the "worldwide praise" Trouesdale has received.

And to make this story even sweeter, if that's even possible, Trouesdale told the local newspaper the elderly man came back a week later, and he walked him home again.
