A gas explosion is thought to be responsible for a jail collapse at Escambia County Jail in Pensacola, Florida.
CNN reports two inmates were killed and a county spokeswoman said as many as 150 inmates and jail workers were injured. She said the stormy weather hasn't helped.
KATHLEEN CASTRO: "The building did receive extensive flooding. ... I don't know if that's directly related to the incident that happened this evening or not." (Via WALA)
The blast reportedly rattled houses up to three miles away. Six hundred inmates had to be evacuated in total, according to the Pensacola News Journal.
"Droves of police officers and first responders roamed up and down Leonard Street in the wee hours of Thursday morning, coralling (sic) prisoners into school buses so they could be transported to detention facilities elsewhere in the region."
But family members of inmates say they still feel in the dark about the status of their loves ones.

Escambia County spokeswoman Kathleen Castro also told WEAR authorities are working on a roster with names so people can tell if loved ones are in a hospital or moved to another detention facility.
Castro says it's too early to tell whether the severe weather caused the explosion.
