Starbucks now has its own credit card, and you can use it to buy more than just coffee. Cardholders can earn points, or Stars, when they use the card that can be redeemed for items like coffee at Starbucks locations nationwide.
But analysts say the Visa rewards cards may also be an attempt to increase Starbucks' slowing sales. During its fourth quarter earnings report, the coffee giant said sales at U.S stores open at least one year increased just 2 percent. Also, the number of actual transactions during the fourth quarter was flat.
Starbucks and JPMorgan Chase say they're also working on a co-branded prepaid debit card that will launch later this year.
