On Wednesday, the New York Stock Exchange halted trading at about 11:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, and all open orders at the time were canceled.
An exchange spokesperson told reporters it was due to a technical error. Multiple outlets reported the halt would be temporary. (Video via CNBC)
At the same time, parts of The Wall Street Journal's website were temporarily down.
The NASDAQ was still trading and did not report technical errors.
The New York Stock Exchange said in a tweet the technical issue was internal and was not the result of a hack.
