The House has approved legislation that would limit President Donald Trump's military actions when it comes to Iran.

On Thursday, lawmakers voted 224 to 194 in favor of the War Powers measure.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said some members of Congress have "serious, urgent concerns" about the Trump administration's decision to engage in hostilities against Iran with the attack that killed Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani.

"Last week, in our view … the administration conducted a provocative, disproportionate air strike against Iran, which endangered Americans and did so without consulting Congress," Pelosi said.

The War Powers Resolution would reassert Congress' oversight responsibilities by doubling down on one mandate: If Congress doesn't take action, the administration must stop hostilities against Iran within 30 days.

The legislation will now head to the Senate, where it is largely expected to be voted down, considering many Republican senators have backed President Trump's actions in Iran.

But one GOP senator, Mike Lee of Utah, said he would support the resolution. He previously blasted the administration's explanation of the attack to lawmakers, calling it "probably the worst briefing I've seen."
