A 3-year-old girl died after suffering cardiac arrest during a root canal in Hawaii — and her parents are now suing the dentist who performed the procedure.

Finley's sudden and tragic death all started with a trip to the dentist in early December.
Her parents took her to Island Dentistry in Kailua to undergo four root canals from Dr. Lilly Geyer. It's unclear why Finley needed such extensive dental work done. (Via New York Daily News)
According to KHON, before the procedure, the 3-year-old was given a "highly potent mix of sedatives" and left unmonitored for 26 minutes. She soon stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest.
911 OPERATOR: "What's wrong today?"
CALLER: "A child is not breathing. She is under sedation."
OPERATOR: "Are you guys doing CPR?"
CALLER: "Um, yes, we have a doctor here." (Via WBRE)
But according to Finley's parents, she didn't get CPR right away and that crucial lack of oxygen to Finley's brain left her in a coma and brain dead, struggling to breathe for weeks.
"In every case, the treatment was either totally unnecessary or somewhat unnecessary." (Via WPTV)
And now, still reeling from the tragic loss of their daughter, Finley's parents are suing Dr. Geyer and her practice for alleged negligence and dangerous conduct.
According to CNN, the lawsuit "alleges improper medications with incorrect dosages were administered to the girl on Dec. 3," and as a result, Finley "suffered severe and permanent brain damage."
Island Dentistry's website says it has been permanently closed. Dr. Geyer and her attorney have yet to comment on the impending lawsuit.
