Authorities are offering more than $100,000 for information leading to an arrest in the shooting death of a postal worker in Maryland.
Twenty-six-year-old Tyson Jerome Barnette was delivering mail Saturday night when he was shot and killed.
"It's a tragedy and my heart goes out to him and his family. I understand that he had a little girl and certainly to go through her life without her dad is going to be just very unfortunate." (ViaWMAR)
"It's very sad to see that a life is taken so easily. It seems like it's just senseless. People just don't care now. Life isn't precious to people no more." (Via WJZ-TV)
A vigil was held Sunday night near the scene of the murder and more than 100 of Barnette's closest friends and family came to celebrate his life.
At the vigil, Kenneth Lerch from the National Association of Letter Carriers told reporters that Barnette's manager is partially to blame for his death.
"The blood is on the hands of Kelvin Williams the district manager. He's been made aware hundreds of times from the union, myself personally, that somebody was going to get seriously injured or killed." (Via WBFF)
Lerch was referring to the dangers of delivering mail at night. Police were called to the scene and found Barnette suffering from several gun shot wounds. Police are still looking for a motive and a suspect.
The Postal Service is offering a $100,000 reward and Prince George's County authorities have offered another $25,000 for information.
