Uber's trying to join the bike-share game. Yes, you heard that right. Uber Bike by JUMP is being tested in San Francisco.
JUMP's CEO announced the partnership in a statement.
Here's how it works. Riders use the Uber app to find a nearby electric bike, select it, unlock it using a PIN the company provides, and off they go. It costs $2 for 30 minutes.
Uber is a little late to this particular game, though. Many cities have had bike-sharing for years, and some are evolving to dockless bike-sharing. That means you don't have to take the bike back to a designated spot every time you borrow it.
So far, there's no word on whether the Uber program will expand outside of San Francisco.
