Patty Murray was inspired to run for office in 1991 when Anita Hill testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee about sexual harassment claims she brought against then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. In an interview with Newsy's Kellan Howell, Murray recalled how that testimony shook Congress and how Christine Blasey Ford's claims of sexual assault against Donald Trump's Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh could see history repeating itself at the polls.
