I have never wished for the end of summer but if fall has some better movies then bring on the pumpkin spice lattes and Gap sweaters.
Only one new movie out this week, but it was panned by critics and practically no one saw it. Not to mention, the cumulative total in weekend ticket sales, $64 million, is the lowest in ten years.
Which means the box office top 3 slots haven't moved for three long weeks: "Guardians of the Galaxy" at number one, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" at number two and "If I Stay" at number three.
But the combination of one amazing movie with a serious lack of competition has lead to "Guardians" breaking a ton of records and serving as a bright spot for movie-goers this summer.
"Starlord."
"Who?"
"I'm Starlord man, legendary outlaw?"
"Guardians" is expected to rake in just upwards of $10 million this weekend which would bring its worldwide gross total to $586 million and its domestic total to $294 million.

Meaning the second tier super-heroes did better than the highly anticipated "Man of Steel"
Which is a movie about Superman.
Chris Pratt and company also accomplished a feat that has eluded every other Marvel flick, including huge blockbusters like "Spider-Man," "Iron Man" and "The Avengers." (Video via BlackTree TV)
'Guardians of the galaxy' has held the top spot at the box office for four different weekends since it's release.
DC's "The Dark Knight" is the only other comic book film to pull that off. (Video via Warner Bros. / 'The Dark Knight')
As for next week, you can look forward to seeing Idris Elba soaking wet

and Morgan Freeman playing with dolphins.
